Lorient Interceltic Festival : 31 july - 9 august 2026
In 2026, the Lorient Interceltic Festival is proud to welcome its cousins from Cornwall, land in the heart of the Celtic Sea.
11 years after the last edition dedicated to our Cornish friends, the 55th edition will honor our Celtic cousins from across the Channel.
Opportunity to celebrate the enthusiasm and maritime reality of the Cornish people…
Opportunity to strengthen the cultural bridges between our two coasts so close…
Opportunity for an edition a little more focused on the sea and the maritime reality of the Celtic countries of the Atlantic Arc.
The Lorient Interceltic Festival, the world’s largest gathering of Celts, is one of the largest events in Brittany, France and Europe, attracting more than 950,000 visitors and spectators each year.
Every year in Lorient at the beginning of August, the event brings together many Celtic nations for festivities throughout the city.
Some numbers:
• 10 days and 10 nights of concerts, shows, activities and many others every year at the beginning of August
• More than 5,000 musicians, singers, dancers, visual artists, academics, filmmakers, from Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, the Isle of Man, Galicia, Asturias, Brittany, as well as well as the Celtic diaspora throughout the world (USA, Acadia, Australia, New Zealand etc.)
• A Grande Parade des Nations Celtes which attracts more than 90,000 spectators to the streets of Lorient on the first Sunday
• More than 1600 volunteers
• Around 300 shows and activities offered on 12 stages
• Festù-noz, conferences, concerts every day on stages and in the city’s bars, master classes in Celtic instruments, daily parades, bagpipe, gaïta, accordion and music competitions. Celtic harp, drums, pipe bands, a Espace Découvertes,…
• A book market, an artisan market consistent with the theme of the festival
• Sport: gouren (Breton wrestling), Breton athletic games, rugby, Celtic wrestling, etc.

The Stadium
The Stade du Moustoir is the football stadium located in the city center of Lorient; Every year it hosts the Grand Show of the Lorient Interceltic Festival “Horizons Celtiques” (more than a million spectators for 30 years), the National Bagadoubli Championship with the Sonerion Federation but also a major Breton dance carte blanche with the Confederation Kenleur.
The Kleub
An ephemeral current “Celtic” music venue, “Le Kleub” has become in just 2 editions (opening FIL 2022) one of the essential stages of the Lorient Interceltic Festival. Every evening, the Kleub hosts various musical offerings with very contemporary sounds. Everyone can then vibrate and dance to the tunes of the different invited groups, all from different Celtic nations. To close the evenings, there is electronic music in the form of creation or a DJ Set.
The Galerie du Faouëdic
As part of the annual partnership with the Lorient Interceltic Festival, this year the Gallery welcomes the creations of the artist and Breton embroiderer Pascal Jaouen. Numerous embroidered outfits, images of fashion shows, as well as other creations can be discovered during this summer exhibition. An inexhaustible source of inspiration for Pascal Jaouen, the Celtic imagination unfolds elegantly on embroideries mixing silk threads, glass beads, cannetille or shells. The know-how of the master embroiderers of yesteryear gives life to precious outfits, sometimes extravagant but always lasting, brought to life thanks to Cadiou Industrie. From Brittany to Galicia, each region of the Atlantic coast has nourished the work of the embroiderer-stylist. From Saturday August 3 to Sunday August 25, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Free access.
The Ecole Bisson
From Monday to Saturday, “Du fil au FIL” offers several sessions of demonstrations, initiations and discoveries of different embroidery techniques and textile arts, from Brittany but also from other Celtic cultures. Needle felting, bigoudène embroidery, basic stitches, macramé, painting on velvet, embroidery on jeans, etc. There is something for all tastes and all levels.
The Parc Jules Ferry
All week (except Thursday 15th), numerous meetings, demonstrations and sporting and fun initiations. Celtic games and sports, International Cornish wrestling tournament, Board puck competition, International Back-Hold tournament (Scottish wrestling), Gouren tournament (Breton wrestling), Breton athletic sports championship, etc.).
The Allée interceltique
Commonly called “the Interceltic Market”, this space brings together around sixty exhibitors, artisans or traders located along the Quai des Indes, between the Palais des Congrès and the Lorient theater. You will discover a variety of products there: jewelry, leather goods, textiles, cosmetics, decoration… but also three delicious food concessions located near the Whiskey Shop. Allée Interceltique will be open from 11 am to 9 pm on August 10 and 11 (except food concessions), then from 11 am to midnight from August 12 to 18.
The Place des Pays Celtes
aunched in 2023, the Place des Pays celtes will never have lived up to its name so well, THE continuous meeting point for foreign representations of the Festival. Throughout the event, come and discover from morning until late at night a succession of artists, musicians and dancers from different Celtic nations: folk groups, pipe bands, harpists, Loïc Raison Trophy, gaïta bands, Lancelot Kitchen Music Competition, aubades, … a rich, varied and non-stop program! This year, the popular “Musiques et Danses des Pays celtes” format will be offered at Place des Pays celtes, with a special “Musiques et Danses de Lorient” on the last day of the Festival. Finally, opposite the large common stage, representations of tourism, culture, etc. from each of the nations and near the Place many culinary specialties (Breton oysters with Irish Stew, Cornish pasties, Welsh fish & chips without forgetting the Scottish haggis and burgers).
The Marché du Terroir
Market for savory and sweet food products, drinks, you will find something for all tastes! You can make great taste discoveries there from 11 am to 9 pm on August 10 and 11, then from 11 am to midnight from August 12 to 18.
The Palais
Morning masterclasses (gaïta, uilleann Pipes, Highland bagpipe, fiddle and Celtic harp), numerous music competitions (gaïta, Highland bagpipe, Pibroc’hn, young pipers, accordion and Celtic harp) and several music concerts to listen to, a traditional and modern fashion show as well as a major Breton dance show with young artists.
The Espace Institutionnels
Located behind the former Post Office site, Quai des Indes, this set of stands brings together representatives of the media, tourist structures, and associations defending regional/cultural interests. Come and chat with them from 11 am to 9 pm on August 10 and 11, then from 11 am to 10 pm from August 12 to 18.
The Auditorium du Cercle Saint-Louis / CinéFIL
The CinéFIL, cinema venue of the Lorient Interceltic Festival (Place Anatole Le Braz), this year presents 20 films from Celtic countries, from Monday August 12 to Friday August 16, at the Auditorium du Cercle Saint-Louis, Place Anatole Le Braz. Several of the ten sessions will be followed by meetings. The choice of films is vast, guided by a guiding idea: to show an audience with little or no knowledge of Celtic countries, works that initiates will also enjoy seeing or seeing again, and to provoke exchanges and dialogue.
The Terrasses du Festival
Another great dining venue at the Lorient Interceltic Festival: seafood specialties facing the port and the new “Signature Interceltique” dish to discover. Return of the Terrasses stage with a musical program “sea shanties” from 11:45 am, the traditional Irish musical sessions) 4:30 pm, the FIL 2024 creations “Interceltic Music Camp” #1 and #2 (1:30 pm and 6:00 pm) and several concerts from 8:00 pm.
The Espace Découvertes
This year, the Solidarity Space becomes the Discovery Space, a space dedicated to the transmission of knowledge and the awakening of curiosities. At the heart of this space, various associations and organizations come to present their cultural, social and environmental commitments for future generations. Lively and family site, with free access activities all day long, such as the traditional wooden games of Skolig ar C’hoariou or the children’s area and the library run by the Diwan schools. Every day, fun interventions will also follow one another to help you discover, through games and initiation, the challenges of the Celtic world of tomorrow. An intergenerational place of learning and conviviality, the Espace Découvertes welcomes you from Monday August 12 to Sunday August 18 from 11 am to 10 pm.
The Quai du Livre
Publishing houses and authors meet on the Quai de Rohan to help you discover Brittany and its culture, but also to take you on a journey to other worlds and other places: travel diaries, thrillers, fantasy, literature youth, cooking, poetic stationery, etc. In the center of the Quai du Livre, you can also meet authors who have come to book signings for a few days. The Quai du livre will be open from 11 am to 9 pm. on August 10 and 11, then from 11 am to 10 pm from August 12 to 18.
The Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie, Quai des Indes
A cycle of academic conferences from the Université Populaire Bretonne in collaboration with Emgleb bro an Oriant. This year on Tuesday August 13 and Wednesday August 14, at 11 am, 3 p.m. and 5 pm (free access subject to availability).
The Salle Carnot
In the afternoon, Breton dance workshops and one of the foreign nations of the Lorient Interceltic Festival. In the evening, it’s time for fest-noz until late at night. 2 special evenings, a fest-noz La Nuit des Champions (Friday 16th) with the crème de la crème of Breton bell ringers and a Special youth fest-noz (Saturday 17th ) to highlight young talents from the traditional Breton scene. On the last day, a Céilí, a big Irish ball, from 2:30 pm.
The Quai de Bretagne
An entire quay dedicated to Brittany! Beyond the gastronomic specialties (continuous bar and catering services), a musical program is offered every day from early afternoon until late at night: festù-deiz, concerts and festù-noz from the best of the current Breton scene brings together a large audience. Every evening, “La Bretagne invite”, the opening of the evening by a group of foreign delegations from the Lorient Interceltic Festival (Asturias, Cornwall, Galicia, Scotland, Isle of Man, Ireland, Wales, etc.).
The Espace Jean-Pierre Pichard
The main stage of the Lorient Interceltic Festival! This year, a covered marquee with more than 5,000 seats with 3 exceptional evenings:
– Thursday August 15: Evening show « Soirée Bouge ton Celte ! » (The SIDH, CelKilt and Les Ramoneurs de Menhirs)
– Friday August 16: NoGood Boyo (Wales) et Soldat Louis (Brittany)
– Saturday August 17: Seo Linn (Ireland) et Matmatah (Brittany)
